dom brassey. BA from SF State in English, with an emphasis on Creative Writing. spent 1+ years at UC Santa Cruz studying trustafarians who wrote volumes of bad hippie erotica. transferred as quickly as possible to SF State, for the radicals, the bohemian queers, the art, the politics, and the activism. worldly passions include: culture-jamming, DIY, young people, love, hope, fear, discovery, and risk. research habits include: marketing and unvertising, racial justice and ghetto USA, grassroots organizing, schools and prisons, the existential status of the suburbs, and "ego," the gift and the affliction. emergent interests of the moment: self-directed learning and public intellectualism, zines, urban planning, the Industrial Areas Foundation, disinformation, and apathy/boredom. intellectual/creative tradition(s): feminist/critical, post-(structuralist/modernist), anarchist, punk, and absurdist. favorite or crushed-on theorists/cultural critics: the Situationists (even though french writing drives me nuts), Jenny Holzer, Paolo Freire, bell hooks, Baudrillard, Wittgenstein, Bakhtin, The Billboard Liberation Front, Institute for Applied Autonomy, Tim Etchells, Chomsky, and Howard Zinn. favorite concepts: hybridity, synchrony, liberation, plurality, humanity, the "Ethic of Love," and the transformative powers of Art and Communication. recent work: i recently completed my creative work project (a collaborative video-ethnography with the local non-profit Center for Young Women's Development) and am currently working on the writeup. i also recently completed a public intervention video project about HR 4437, which was screened on a wall at the corner of 16th/Dolores in SF. coming soon, i will begin tutoring students at Patten College's Prison University Project (San Quentin State Prison). ask me how that goes.

Her recent works include "Immigrants Aren't Felons," a documentary short + sidewalk screening intervention responding to HR 4437, "Passion Annoys" a performance series at 81X, and "NoMoreCars," a collaborative mobile sculpture/ArtCar which challenges the sanctity of the AutoBody with its flamboyant masochism.
